The Clover Valley Referendum
Will Let the People of Rocklin Decide
This type of referendum is not new and is being exercised by several citizens groups throughout the state in communities where people believe their Elected Officials' Votes did Not represent the Will of the People.
Below is a general definition of a referendum along with websites that help explain the process
A REFERENDUM IS THE SUBMISSION TO A VOTE OF THE PEOPLE OF A LEGISLATIVE ACT PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL.
Rocklin is NOT a charter city, which means that it follows the general laws set forth in the links below:
Petition signatures must be submitted to the city within 30 days after the passage of the ordinance.
No less than 10% of the number of registered voters in the city limits (for our size city)must be collected. The current number of Rocklin registered voters is: 28,023. Thus, 2,803 valid petition signatures are needed.
Once signatures are verified by the city, the city council must decide to rescend the vote or allow the citizens of Rocklin to vote for or against the development in the next available election. The city council can choose to call a special election ($100,000) or be prudent with the taxpayer' money and wait until the next election to place on the ballot.

Our Vision for Clover Valley
Our vision of Clover Valley: A preserve, a living-California museum model (Geological, Ecological, Anthropological, Historical), with non-invasive, very low impact trail systems with interpretive stations and educational components. Rocklin will earn revenue from tourist dollars, its property values will soar and we will have pride in a city that was able to balance growth and the preservation of special places like Clover Valley.
